About Me:
Hi,

My name is Mark King, founder of T-C-O-B: The Cross Over Basketball (www.thecrossoverbasketball.com)! God has given me an incredible life. I've learned so much about what it means to be a Christian. A long time ago, I made a decision to make God the utmost priority in my life. I've been blessed beyond measure ever since. That's not to say that I haven't had to endure any difficult trials and tribulations - I've had my share of peaks and valleys. Fortunately, my faith in God kept me strong, and helped me to be hopeful and optimistic about life, especially in the most difficult times.

Everything I am and everything I do is for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is my desire that my life bares a living testament that Jesus Christ is who He said he was...that He is who the Bible declares He is! My vision is to utilize basketball, and especially T-C-O-B as a tool to invest in the lives of others, and show them how awesome a relationship with God really is.

I have no "title" within the walls of a church, but I consider myself a Youth
Minister. I'm passionate about the future of our world, and I know full well that the future, for the most part, is in the hands of an ill-equipped generation of young people who need spiritual guidance.

My experiences in life have left me with no uncertainties as to who God is and what He can do. My dream to play basketball has always been important to me, and I've been blessed to realize that my dreams are important to God as well. I believe dreams are God's way of holding our hand and taking us to the life he has for us...a road map to follow so we can arrive at the destination that He intends for us to arrive.

I had a dream to play professional basketball as a kid, and despite never playing in high school and only playing one college varsity game at Pikeville College in Eastern Kentucky, I've found myself in the midst of a professional basketball career - something that everyone told me would never be possible. God has taken me from being a short, malnourished, athletically-challenged young boy and made me a professional basketball player. He's done it in such a way that it is totally clear that it had everything to do with Him and nothing to do with me. God has always been in the business of doing extraordinary things with ordinary people.

In 2006, I played for the Orlando Aces of the American Basketball Association (ABA). In 2007, I played for the East Kentucky Miner of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). This season I was supposed to play in Chicago in the PBL (Premier Basketball League), but my wife and I are having a baby, so I opted to stay home and forego the opportunity.

I remember days where I would pray that God would take away my passion for the game so I could move on with my life. Instead, he did the opposite, and God has shown the truth of Psalm 37:4, "Delight in the Lord, and He will you the desires of your heart!" God continues to place me in the right places at the right times. My dream to play professional basketball has become a reality, and I owe every bit of that success to God.

In 2000, I made a public profession of faith to devote my life to Christian ministry. I have no position in a church, but I've made a personal commitment to carry out my profession of faith outside of the church walls. My website is one way for me to fulfill that commitment and calling.

It is my prayer that I'm able to connect with people and share my life with others so that we as God's people can move to develop a closer relationship with Him! I welcome any opportunity to share my testimony. If you would like to schedule me for a speaking engagement, I would be honored to fulfill such a request. You can email me at:

#14 - Entry 1...The Rough Draft of My Autobiography

My earliest memory is one of me climbing out of my crib in the middle of the night to sleep in my parent's bed. It sounds innocent and meaningless, and it probably is on the surface. Yet, I can't help to give meaning to it. In a sense, it symbolizes the spirit that I have: I was told to stay in my crib. I was supposed to be afraid of the darkness that characterizes the middle of the night. I wasn't supposed to get out of my crib...it was designed to keep babies safe and secure while they sleep.… Continue

Minor League Basketball back in Orlando/Kissimmee???

It sure is nice to be in Orlando this time of year. 70 degrees in December? Now that's quality of life. The holiday season has been swell for us. Having a baby and all of the excitement that it brings is definitely adding to the holiday cheer. We had Bernardine visit this weekend (she's my wife's 2nd eldest sister). She is the founder of Tech Bridge World, which is under the umbrella of Carnegie Mellon University.

She is leaving to teach in Qatar soon for 6 months and wanted to see Florence bef… Continue
